Service-Learning Education
BARKA works with schools in developed countries to teach about global water scarcity, extreme poverty in West Africa, the UN’s Millennium Development Goals, the indigenous paradigm, and peace-building.
Through service-learning initiatives, BARKA helps students to take their learning beyond the classroom and into their local and global communities. In this way, students become empowered as they witness the impact of their actions to help others across the world.
For more information about BARKA’s work in schools K-College, see Education in Developed Countries.
One of the most successful ways BARKA has inspired students to make a positive change in the world is through its Peace, Water & Wisdom Walk campaigns. These “walks for water” raise awareness about water scarcity and raise funds for BARKA’s water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives in Burkina Faso.
