We are so blessed

We’re on fumes, still no funds to return to Burkina, yet I sit down after working for 4 uninterrupted hours to a lunch of fish and fresh salad. Six hours later i’m enjoying a glass of wine (thanks to Mida) and steamers (we are in Maine after all), smoked salmon and avocados. We are so blessed. Even in our veritable poverty (food stamps, fuel assistance) it is incomparable to the conditions of our family in Burkina Faso- the ones for whom we are doing all this- the smallholder farmer and her family who are right now doling out tiny rations in order to minimize the time of the hunger season which is right around the corner. I’m convinced this global recession has been brought on by the need for us all to live on less, to be grateful for everything, and understand better how the least fortunate 4 billion people on the planet live and die.
