Peace-Building

The largest context of BARKA’s work is peace. The achievement of MDGs, making clean water accessible, helping to forge a new paradigm of development, and building bridges between Burkina and developed countries is all in service of co-creating a culture of peace.

Peace is often thought of as unobtainable, largely because it is thought of in terms of an abstract concept. The BARKA Foundation is focused on concrete forms of peace building and provides opportunities in which everyone can participate. BARKA’s local initiatives are geared at inspiring students, women, elders, businesses, artists, faith-based organizations, civic and political leaders to get involved and embrace their role and responsibility within the global village, to directly get involved in making the world a better, more just, more sustainable, and ultimately peaceful place.

Testimonial

“The 7 year project (2008-2015), aimed at supporting achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals in Burkina Faso, is particularly significant as its work to eradicate poverty is being cast within the context of creating a culture of peace… I encourage you to give this endeavor your fullest support.”
