In 2011 BARKA co-founder Esu Anahata was chosen as a Fellow for the Ariane de Rothschild’s Fellowship Programme for social entrepreneurship and inter-cultural dialogue at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School and King’s College in the United Kingdom.

  • Esu’s presentation of BARKA’s business plan for a ceramic water filter production business in Burkina Faso won first place in a competition among Fellows
  • In September, 2011, BARKA was invited to give a presentation of its pioneering work with US students to raise water consciousness at Project WET’s “Sustaining the Blue Planet Conference” for Water & Education

    In June, 2011 BARKA co-founders Ina & Esu Anahata became published authors in “Hope For Africa; Voices from Around the World”

    In 2010 Esu was awarded a full scholarship by MIT’s Jameel Poverty Action Lab for an Executive Education Training Course on “Evaluating Impact of Social Programs”

    In 2009 BARKA inaugurated two flagship fundraising events

    • Peace, Water & Wisdom Walk in the US (Walk for Water)
      • Received “Shining World Compassion Award” by Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association for 500-mile trek from NYC to Maine
    • Peace, Water & Wisdom Concert & Festival in Burkina Faso on the International Day of Peace

    Premiered first feature-length documentary, ‘BARKA! BURKINA’ in FESPACO 2009, Africa’s largest film festival; chronicles groundbreaking work in the bush of Burkina since 2000.

    • Film was selected for Official Competition, received additional screening

    On Peace Day 2008, established the BARKA Burkina Consortium, a collective of organizations and individuals to work collaboratively to achieve MDGs in Burkina Faso.
