Since its inception, The BARKA Foundation has operated as an all-volunteer organization. Everything we’ve accomplished has been made possible through the courageous act of people daring to care, striving to change the world, and willing to donate the most precious resource- their time.
Beginning in 2014, with the funding of its largest WASH project to date BARKA was able to hire a small core team of dedicated staffers in Burkina Faso. This team continues to be paid for their work to keep operations running smoothly on the ground. In the United States, France and Canada, BARKA continues to work with volunteers in a wide range of capacities, and receives in-kind services for legal counsel and financial accounting/auditing.
“A team is a small number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, set of performance goals and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable.”
– Jon R. Katzenbach and Douglas K. Smith, The Wisdom of Teams, Harvard Business Review
